Summer 2011

This summer has been VERY busy.  These are what I did between trips to Texas.  There are 2 more cakes that I have downloaded off the camera yet.  Hopefully in the next couple of days.

Baby shower for brother & his wife

My 11 yr old niece wanted characters from Land Before Time.  Here's what I came up with...

Birthday cake for hubby's fishing buddy...they had gone fishing a couple weeks before & he had caught a really tiny fish, while my hubby & friend's son caught 2 that were at least 10 in longer.

Cars 2 Theme

Made with leftover batter & icing

We went to see Cars 2 the day it came out.  My son's birthday was about 2 weeks after that but we had his party a week early since we were in TX visiting family.  This was the impromptu cake I made.
The dirt track is crushed Nilla Wafers, the "asphalt" is crushed Oreo.  I bought the cars and used toothpicks to prop them up.   All the icing is buttercream.

Speed Buggy

For a friend who turned twice that, but his favorite cartoon was Speed Buggy.  All buttercream icing.

Sweet as sugar

Was for a girl baby shower themed pink gingham & lacy.  Baby's name is Jaina, so I made sure to put those letters on the blocks.

Nothing fancy :     Carrot cake with cream cheese-buttercream icing

Hearts of chocolate:   German chocolate cake with strawberry filling & buttercream icing....Chocolate heart on top is chocolate sprinkles

My youngest daughter picked this for her birthday cake this year, I thought it needed something to make it a little girly.  So I added the pink bow on the head.  She refused to let me do it any other color but green & yellow!  We have been watching alot of Dinosaur Train on PBS, which I'm sure why she wanted a dinosaur in the first place.

Holiday cakes/cupcakes

I actually did these for my daughter's birthday this last December to take to her class at school.  Her birthday is on Christmas Day, so we don't normally get to have a party with friends.
